Whether you want to learn theory to improve your music skills or because you want to take music seriously
"Who's that knocking at the door?" " "Must be the singer" "How do you know?" "Because they don't know when to come in..."

Are you a singer but feel the need to know more about what's going on musically? Do you understand what the keyboard player and guitarist is talking about? After the Practical Musicianship course "singer jokes" will be a thing of the past!

The module is designed to be an enjoyable, interactive and practical way of learning the basics of music theory - it is not as confusing or difficult as it might seem! Not only will the Muscicianship course help put you in the picture, it will aslo boost self- confidence and improve music skills immeasurably.

We will look at:

  • Scales
  • Keys
  • Chords
  • Time signatures
  • Tempo
  • Musical terms in a clear and usable way.
We will also refer to computer composition systems like Cubase, Sonar and Logic to see how music theory is applied within these systems.
Additionally the Practical Musicianship course referes you to the Grade Exam syllabus to get you started on your studies if you are working towards the Grade 5 theory or Practical Musicainship - essential for further musical study.
The syllabus expects you to have some basics in place already - please enquire if you are unsure.
