 Beginners Part A

If you are just getting into singing, or returning after a break, this is a great place to start. Not only enjoy lots of singing in group, harmony and solo, but also start right away understanding your voice, seeing vocal problems as issues with a clear resolution, and developing technique.

Beginners Part B

A small-group module, where you get a lot of individual attention. Based around getting you singing solo in a quick and practical way, your tutor will help you select a song, and work with you throughout the course towards a performance of the song on the last night.

Transitional Singing

Once you have some vocal technique and some songs, it's time to put it all together in a performance situation. This module focusses on keeping the vocal aspects improving as you perform in front of the class. Basic performance issues are also mentioned throughout. On its own or in conjunction with private lessons.

Harmony

Enjoy the pleasure of singing in harmony in this repeating six-week module. Work on a wide range of material to understand harmony styling, use of vocal timbres and finding and remembering parts. Great preparation for joining a BV ensemble, choir or vocal group.

Jazz

An introduction to Jazz singing: Mostly practical work on stying, developing a performance in the Jazz idiom, and finding your way into variation and improvisation. Also covering basic Jazz concepts and outline theory.

Musicianship

A quick, practical one-off course to get to grips with all that basic stuff that you just have to know. The basic language of music: Notes, scales, keys, chords, counting, tempo, musical structure.

Performance

A repeatable module to improve performance skills. In the context of performing your chosen repertoire, many aspects of delivering a convincing performance will be introduced and discussed, from practical consideration like mics, lights and monitors, to lyrical analysis and movement.

Band-leader

If you wish you were in a band, maybe you should start your own...? From finding players through running rehearsals, finding gigs, promotion and band management. This module will show you how.
